  relationships and exchanges

From its beginnings, in 2009 the master's degree is considered as a program of postgraduate studies linked to different artistic institutions of Madrid city. Collaborations with art centres and scenic spaces allow participants to get in touch with cultural agents and artists of the city.
The main site where the activities take place is Reina Sofía Museum.

In addition to this stable collaboration, the master is related to other institutions and art centres in different types of activities:

2. Creation of artistics research groups.
In collaboration with Matadero Madrid (October 2016-March 2017) we opened a specific call to create two groups of artistic research based on practice with artists from Madrid: Cuerpo y Democracia; Cuerpo, archivo y Memoria.

Within the framework of the Program of Advanced Studies in Critical Practices of the Reina Sofía Museum between 2012 and 2016 we have annually held a public call for researchers and artists in Teatralidades Expandidas program. This project is focus on the investigation of the relationship between the forms of social and artistic theatricality, so that we can observe transformations of the traditional modes of social theatricality and locate dissident theatricalities in their relation with the production of specific artistic forms. Within this framework we have organized the following groups:

  • Teatralidades Expandidas: Cuerpo y democracia(October 2015-March 2016) investigates how changes categories of citizenship and representation in the political sphere and how this changes are related to new ways of understanding and practicing theatricality.
  • Ser o no Ser un cuerpo (November 2014-April 2015) proposes joint practices in the framework of a mixed group of adults and children.

With the same group in collaboration with Lóva project (the opera as a vehicle for learning) and with National Dance Company, the program Encuentro de puntos propose a space for work, dialogue and theoretical- practice around artistic research, body and dance in education. The lectures of Santiago Alba Rico in this seminar are included in his book Ser o no ser (un cuerpo) published by Seix Barral (2017)

  • Teatralidades expandidas: Redes de afecto (January-May 2014) investigates forms of theatricality that operate in spaces of coexistence that were traditionally considered private. As a primary sphere of theatricality, the family structure is nowadays in a process of change that attends to new formations more heterogeneous, expanded, intermittent and irregular.
  • Modelos gestuales y repertorios disidentes (January-June 2013) study the ways in which theatrical acts as an instrument of submission, modeling or social replication, and when, on the other side, it serves as a tool of resistance, reconfiguration or dissidence.
